Goodbye Butterflies

Today we had to wave goodbye to our butterflies. We have seen them emerge from their chrysalis into beautiful butterflies and it is now time to let them free. We loved having them in our class.

In science we have been learning about what plants and flowers need to grow.
To help us do this we planted our own sunflower seeds and have been looking after them very carefully over the last few weeks. They are starting to get tall now, we have had to re-pot them twice!
I wonder who will have to tallest sunflower by the summer holiday?

They've changed!

They were right! We have had our caterpillars for two weeks now and they have just built a chrysalis. We have transferred them to our net now ready for when they emerge as butterflies.

Butterfly Farm

We had a really fun day at Stratford Butterfly Farm yesterday.

The children were really well behaved and listened very carefully to Kat, the lady who showed us around. We got to see lots of different types of butterflies and learnt all about the life cycle. We also saw caterpillars and some minibeasts. Some of us were very brave and held them.

After our tour we had a picnic outside then went to a huge play park.

It was so much fun!!!
